Pomene Lodge, is located on the thin finger of land between the ocean and the estuary. This spectacular location creates many unique features for a hoiday destination and Pomene Lodge is making good use of these features. The large rustic camp site covers most of the strip of land seen in this photograph. Campers have access to ablution blocks with hot and cold running water and electric plug points. In the same area, are 3 self catering chalets, sleeping 8, 6 or 4. Each chalet has its own toilet with hot & cold showers. Just recently opened are the 10 beautiful, waters edge, stilted lodge chalets. Positioned on the estuary, next to the main lodge buildings. The Dive Centre launches from inside the estuary and enter the ocean through the estuary mouth, Pomene Lodge is fully equipped with electricity, (generators) and fresh drinking, borehole water. |

The 10 waters edge chalets are a new development at Pomene Lodge, with a further 20 to be constructed soon.Based on the design from their sister lodge, Flamingo Bay in Inhambane, these chalets offer cool luxurious comfort to couples visiting Pomene Lodge. These chalets are the ideal accommodation for visitors wishing to fly into Pomene for a few relaxing days. Each room has a large double bed with mosquito net and fan. These Waterside Chalets are perfect for honeymooners and couples. |
A hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner is served to lodge guests in the dining room or on the deck overlooking the estuary.Bookings by campers and self catering guests are very welcome. When in Mozambique, almost every lodge or hotel needs to bring in just about everything from South Africa, from basic foods to light bulbs to toilet paper. Pomene lodge is no different. But it makes use of the Barra Resorts infrastructure based in Johannesburg. Weekly, everything from food to pool chemicals are trucked into Pomene from Johannesburg. The local people from Pomene are being trained in hospitality skills by experienced Barra Resorts staff on an ongoing basis in a quest to deliver good service while supporting the local community. The one item that Pomene Lodge does not need to import, is fresh seafood and fish. Pomene literally has the best variety of fish right on its doorstep. Daily, the local fishermen supply the lodge with prawns and the catch of the day for the lodge menu. Fresh fruit such as coconut, paw paw, bananas and mangoes are also delivered daily to the lodge kitchens by the locals. To view more and larger pictures of Pomene Lodge.
